Markham Family Health Team (Markham FHT) is here to keep you healthy and improve your access to unparalleled primary care.
Our health managers, office assistants, nurses, nurse practitioners, registered dietitians, social workers and pharmacist have joined with family doctors to build a cohesive interdisciplinary team. The team is collaborating and growing to meet your needs. We have recently been joined with in-house CCAC (Community Care Access Centre) expertise and look to augment our services to our patients.

Regarding: The Chicken Pox (Varicella) Vaccine
A second dose of the chickenpox (varicella) vaccine is now available for children born on or after January 1, 2000, who are at least 12 months to 11 years of age. This safe, effective booster will provide added protection against this highly contagious illness and is provided free of charge.
We used to think 1 dose of varicella vaccine would provide lifelong coverage, but we have learned that this is not true. A second dose, as officially recommended by NACI (National Advisory Committee on Immunization), will enhance protection up to 99.9% against chicken pox. We are therefore recommending your child receive a second dose of varicella vaccine.
The Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care is expanding the availability of some vaccines as part of its immunization program. This includes a two-dose varicella program.
In an effort to provide the best possible protection for our patients, Markham Family Health Team is pleased to offer “Varicella Immunization Clinics” in 2012. Varicella vaccine will be offered to all patients who qualify for the second varicella vaccine through a booked appointment with the nurse on dedicated clinic days.
